Incase of confusion on how to pronounce that, it would be as if spelled: Vero's Shifaka
Scientific name: Propithecus verreauxi verreauxi
One of the largest species of lemur found only on Madagascar. She is clumbsy on the ground and get's around by dancing along in a bipedal upright motion, but in the trees is capable of leaping 30 feet between spiney trunks and landing perfectly between the thorns... how? extremely powerful legs and binocular vision. Babies are born with strong hands and have a locked grip to their mothers front fur for about the first month, then travel to the mothers back for the next 6 months afterwhich they will be mostly independant.
Highly threatened, there may be only around 1000 left in the wild. They are protected by law but poachers still get through and the habitat is being destroyed to make charcoal wood. BAD HUMANS!!!
